If you think you know Batchelor – think again. Come and find out more about the town’s namesake, who struck it lucky and created history almost 60 years ago and try and uncover the wild herbs of the town’s old Chinese market garden. Make sure you check out Batchelor’s famous miniature German castle in the heart of the town.

Visit the NT’s only Butterfly sanctuary and be entranced by these wonderful creatures. There are plenty of accommodation options available to choose from.

Crater Farm

Owners Christine and John bring you 'Crater Farm' and located on the way to Litchfield Park, 500m past the Banyan Tree Caravan Park. Come and taste the yummy jams and chutneys and view the watercolour paintings in the home gallery. Territory 'Rel' Week

While visiting Lingalonga, take a short stroll over the road and visit the skydivers and watch the action. This year skydivers will celebrate the 30th Territory Rel Week by converging in Batchelor to make over 2500 parachute descents from 14,000 feet. This biennial meet is a major event on the Australian skydiving calendar and will provide the opportunity to improve skills in the areas of freefall, also known as rel-work, and canopy relative work.

Spectators are more than welcome to drop in and check out the action during the week. For those who are more adventurous, Tandem Skydives are available during the event, however bookings are essential. Friends of the North Australia Railway

We endeavour to open the Railway Heritage Precinct every day of the year so people can inspect our railway museum and the various exhibits in the precinct. You will find us on the Stuart Highway on the southern side of the pictureseque township of Adelaide River. There is no admission fee, but we have a LARGE donation can that needs all the help you can give it. Caravans can pull in off the Stuart Highway - look for the large railway carriage! As part of Batchelor's Lingalonga Festival a rail trail walk has been arranged from Rum Jungle to Batchelor at 3.15pm on Saturday 1 August. For safety reasons, registration for this event is essential. Please contact rail@northernexposure.com.au to register. You will need: strong sturdy footwear, water, a hat, insect repellant and any other personal requirements.
