2010 Bod's of Batchelor Calender launch

The 2010 Bod's of Batchelor Calender was launched on Thusday 26 November 2009 at The Batchelor Butterfly Farm & Tropical Retreat.

This unique professionally printed calender is available at most newsagents for $12. All funds raised go back to the Lingalonga Festival.

Date set for next Lingalonga Festival

A date to go in the diaries! The Lingalonga Festival 2010 will be held on Saturday 31 July. We will try to keep you up to date with the line-up as early as possible. See you there!

What a great day!

Thank you to all those that came out for the Lingalonga Festival 2009. Approximately 1300 people attended the event. Show stoppers included 'Jungle Beat', Coomalie Sounds and of course, the truly gorgeous Batchelor Town Oval as the backdrop.

Countdown to Lingalonga

5 more sleeps til' Lingalonga Festival in Batchelor. Haven't thought about what to do this weekend? Not in to the racing scene and want to get away for the last long weekend?

Lingalonga Festival - never heard of it? Well now is the time to come to Batchelor and see what the locals have been keeping a secret.

Jungle Beat - an eclectic funky drumming workshop open to all. Get down early to secure your spot in a drumming workshop for all ages. Thinking bongo drums? Think again - body percussion and using junk to make noise! Throw in circus acts and the rhythm train - what more do you want?.

Coomalie SoundsThroughout the day tune in to local home-grown musicians with something for everyone. Artists include;

Batchelor Festival wins Grants!

The Lingalonga Committee is pleased to announce that they were awarded with Festival Grants.

"The importance of securing these Grants cannot be overlooked", said Festival Director Marilyn Reeves. "Festivals such as Lingalonga could not operate without funding such as this".

"We look forward to putting on a great Festival this year, and sharing our lovely town".

Lingalonga Festival Saturday 1 August 9am - 10.30pm.

Volunteers needed for Festival

The Festival Committee is seeking volunteers. If you have the time and are free the weekend of August 1, then we would love to hear from you. In particular we need help in the following areas:

Signage co-ordinator

General all-rounder (s) to assist with set up and clean up

Assistant to the Market Co-ordinator on the day

Supper in Style a fabulous success!

The 'Supper in Style' held at the Batchelor Outdoor Education Unit on Saturday 9 May was a resounding success! Around 70 Batchelor locals (and a few from Humpty Doo and Jabiru) enjoyed a lovely evening under the stars with plenty of food and drinks to be had by all. The Festival raised approx $927 on the night - thank you all very much!

Local musician brings talent to Festival!

Aly is known in Darwin as the front women/singer/songwriter for all Girl four piece Elemental, who rocked the Darwin Festival in 2007.

As a solo artist she was the winner of the Yunguburra Folk Festival Singer Songwriter Competition and featured in ‘Chrysalis’ as an emerging artist at the Woodford Folk Festival.

The Festival is proud to have Aly included in this year's lineup. Aly is sponsored by the Batchelor General Store.

Market Stall's needed for Lingalonga Festival!

The Festival Committee is seeking Market Stall's for the Lingalonga Festival on Saturday 1 August. Approximately 100km's south of Darwin is the pictureseque town of Batchelor.

Get in early to secure your spot at this year's Festival!

Don't drive home after you packup. Make a weekend of it it stay the night at one of the variety of accommodation styles on offer. Wakeup the next morning, have a relaxing swim then head off back to town - what could be easier!
